Thracian Cliffs

Designed by Gary Player, and considered one of the most vivid and beautiful golf courses on earth, the Thracian Cliffs golf course is like no other. The 18-hole course is lined with dramatic coastal cliffs and the Black Sea, ensuring it is considered to be a real gem to all those lucky enough to have played here. Here at the Thracian Cliffs you can expect to play a golf course which will deliver a golfing experience like none other. The setting for Thracian Cliffs is truly stunning and rivals that of any other course in the world; therefore it is hardly surprising that the Thracian Cliffs has been named in the top 5 most spectacular golf courses in the word. All 18 holes run alongside the Black Sea coast and the course requires golfers to be accurate from the very first tee shot. The multitude of different tee positions allows players of different standards a chance to take on this picturesque monster. Every hole is signature with the option of playing with five different sets of tees. Signature holes 7 and 8 both bring the sea right into play and without a near perfect shot, you will find yourself losing lots of balls! A must play course for those seeking a challenge.

Lighthouse Golf Course

Lighthouse, a thriving parkland-style course designed by the famous ex-Ryder Cup Captain Ian Woosnam, is located on the dramatic limestone cliffs overlooking the Black Sea. Woosnam has created an exciting challenge for both amateur and professional players. Lighthouse is definitely worth a visit upon your next golf holiday to Bulgaria. The course measures 6720 yards and with a par of 71, the course offers a variety of different challenges and interesting hole layouts, enough to test golfers of many different abilities. Players will always need to take into account the indecisive breeze from the Black Sea in order to put together a good scorecard. The greens at Lighthouse are certainly worth a mention; large, fast, true and undulating. The Lighthouse was developed to complement its two neighbours on Cape Kaliakra with its structure of its fairways branching out towards the cliff edge. The climate of Bulgaria was thoroughly considered during construction of the golf course, so that modern breeds of grass could be used to optimise conservation of resources and the environment, whilst not forgetting to enhance the player’s golfing experience. Furthermore, water consumption and recycling was also considered whilst designing the drainage and watering systems.

BlackSeaRama

Voted the best new golf course in the world for 2009 by Golf Inc. magazine, BlackSeaRama consistently provides its players with a fabulous golfing experience. The Gary Player designed BlackSeaRama is the first championship signature golf course in Bulgaria to be completed. Golfers can look upon panoramic sea views, provided from an impressive height of 200 metres. The view reaches from Cape Kaliakra to Cape Galata of the Black Sea. Despite being 6648 metres long, every inch is perfectly manicured and maintained for its players. This stunning course sits high on top of the Black Sea coast cliffs where golfers can enjoy spectacular views whilst playing an equally impressive championship course. The terrain of BlackSeaRama is reasonably flat however it still demands accurate play as the holes wind their way over the cliffs and are surrounded by “hillocks” which are large mounds of sand and water. The golf course is said to have respect towards the player as they are given such a good chance at being able to play a high-class golf course with skill. However, hitting the ball straight however is made difficult as, like any other course that is close to the sea, the wind is often a significant factor. On a blustery day hitting a good score at BlackSeaRama can be a real challenge! This course definitely provides a tough game for golfers but is considered somewhat fairer than the likes of the Thracian Cliffs golf course.
