Old Course
The result is a 6,759 yard gem, whose Bermuda fairways and greens, which surround some 7 lakes, have recently been reworked to improve their condition. The New Course is characterised by the four large lakes that it encircles, and its testing tree-lined fairways.
New Course
Completed in 2005, the course has done much to ease traffic on the Old, and is itself an excellent test of golf, stretching to 6,889 yards from the championship tees. Also designed by Frenchman Gayon, the New Course affords terrific views of the Taurus mountains, and adds another string to Gloria’s bow.
Gloria Verde Course
The resort also has a great nine-hole course, called the Gloria Verde. Lying adjacent to the Old Course, the Gloria Verde has been built with two separate sets of tees for each green, to give the feel of a genuine 18-hole layout. The peace and quiet of the short course makes it great for beginners, or just if you fancy a relaxing stroll.
Accommodation
The Gloria Hotels & Resort covers a large expanse, and within it are three excellent hotels, which differ in character, but the three are excellent 5* bases for a golf holiday.
The Gloria Verde Resort is an intimate and private destination, with a total of 293 bedrooms. All modern conveniences are included in the guest rooms, most notably full climate control, a private balcony or terrace, safe, mini-bar, wireless internet access and direct dial telephone.
The Gloria Verde Resort is situated right next to the golf complex, so you can simply roll out of bed and on to the courses.
If being pampered is high on your agenda, head for the Thalasso Therapy Centre in the Gloria Verde Spa, where the specialist staff manipulate the beneficial qualities of mineral rich sea water. Thalasso is particularly focused on improving the body’s circulation and expelling the toxins that build up during everyday life, so why not indulge in some pure relaxation during your golf holiday?
Resort guests are also welcome to use the swimming pools, both outdoor and indoor, the well-equipped gym and tennis courts, with the facilities of both hotels available to all visitors (the two complexes are connected by complimentary shuttle service).
The resort town of Belek is also famous for its miles of sublime sandy beaches, which are one of just 17 sites where the Caretta turtles choose to lay their eggs.
