Montado Golf course was designed by the Portuguese Duarte Sottomayor, who began his career working with the famous Robert Trent Jones. The Montado golf course unfolds beneath old oaks and younger olive trees, chestnut and pines, planted when the course was first built, whilst around it wind creeks and natural lakes. In 2005, extensive remodelling works were initiated under the direction of well-known Portuguese Architect Jorge Santana da Silva. The whole layout of Montado golf course has been redesigned by creating new tees and greens.
