Victoria Golf Course plays host to the European Tour Portugal Masters each year and is the newest golf course development in Vilamoura not to be missed. The series of beautiful lakes and waterfalls also helps to provide an attractive background whilst playing the course and provides a championship style challenge with big fairways and greens offering the perfect contrast to the other courses in the vicinity.
The Old Course is situated in the heart of Vilamoura. It is one of the oldest in the region and highly acclaimed all over the world. The Old course is one of the top courses in the region and a must play when visiting this area. The Course meanders throughout impressive pine trees over gently undulating natural terrain. Although it opened in 1969, the course was completely renovated and modernised 27 years later although no major changes were made to the magnificent layout. The Old course is a magnificent and interesting challenge by all golfing abilities.
Millenium Golf Course opened in 2000 and has become a firm favourite amongst regular golfing visitors to Vilamoura. This par 72 course offers plenty of challenges with its tree lined fairways and fast greens. Martin Hawtree has extended his original concept of the original 27 Holes by adding another 9 and created and creating two individual distinctive courses. The course is a pleasure to play with subtle with few very tricky situations except for possibly the Par 3 sixth with its lake on the left of the fairway waiting for erring balls.
Pinhal Golf Course is situated in Vilamoura as a sister to the other four golf courses. It is laid out through the pine tree forest and is set back from the tourist beach area. The outward nine holes wander through the holiday villas that line the fairways. The well positioned bunkers make the course very enjoyable for the players, testing their choice of clubs and their accuracy. The Par 4 on the fourth hole is difficult to achieve with water waiting for the erring shot. The Par 3 on the eighth of 149 metres is also trickier than it first appears. The back nine-holes have a more open feel but the slightly altered fifteenth will cause a problem to meet the Par 4 it requires. Pinhal is a very enjoyable test of golf suitable for all.
Laguna Golf Course is a flat golf course with many water hazards and very few trees providing a more diverse experience to the other Vilamoura courses. The fairways an open allowing for more stray shots. There are many water hazards with strategically placed bunkers in open terrain. These factors combined with the occasional strong wind make for an interesting round.
Accommodation
Rooms are fitted with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and spacious en suite bathrooms. Most rooms provide pool views, or alternatively guests can upgrade to a marina and sea view room for some truly spectacular sights. Guests can admire these views from their own private balcony. Rooms come equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen television, minibar and safe. The Vila Gale Marina is home to an array of fantastic leisure facilities including a large outdoor swimming pool, lined with palm trees, sun loungers, parasols and a whirlpool. Inside the hotel health club is a large heated indoor pool, a fully-equipped gym and a Turkish bath. Guests can also enjoy access to the private tennis courts and putting green at the Vila Gale Marina’s sister hotel, the Vila Gale Ampalius. Guests can kick off their day with a cooked breakfast in the Galeao restaurant, and for a delectable a la carte meal, they can head to the Coffee Shop restaurant. There is also a Pool Bar open May to September, meaning guests never have to travel far from their sun bed for a refreshing beverage. After a gruelling round of golf, golfers can head to the Bounty Bar for a well-deserved drink.
