Aroeira I
Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1973, Aroeira I was affectionately christened the ‘Wentworth of Lisbon’ by the UK press and it is easy to see why. Played through tall avenues of pine forest and surrounded by wildlife and nature, the golf course plays to 6,650 yards and demands accuracy and placement off the tee in order to maximise opportunities to hit the target greens in regulation. The course was the venue for the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997 and, in addition to staging several Ladies’ European Tour events, played host to the prestigious European Men’s Club Trophy in 2013.
Aroeira II
The second golf course at Aroeira Golf Club is the Aroeira II. A different style of challenge than its sister course, Aroeira II is laid out across flatter land and features plenty of well placed bunkers and 5 lakes to negotiate. This is a great golf course for different levels of golfing ability, particularly as there are 5 tees on each hole, giving the golfer plenty of options. Aroeira II has hosted the Qualifying School of Ladies European Tour and several Ladies Opens.
Quinta Do Peru
One for lovers of tough par-3's, with 2 short holes of around 200 metres, the 8th and 16th, over water!
Water comes into play on six holes at Quinta do Peru, which has the Arrabida mountain range as a backdrop. This course is loved by low and high-handicappers and has a well earned reputation for excellent greens and playing conditions.
Accommodation
This 4 star hotel is right in front of the sandy beach, in the charming fisherman's town of Sesimbra just a short drive away from a number of renowned golf courses in the surrounding area. There is a promenade right in front of the hotel where several bars and little shops can be found and which leads you to the city center ( 5 min walk )
